HISTORY

Econo-Courier, Inc was established in 1972 and incorporated in 1973 by Stephen T. Lippe in an effort to provide services to a growing number of business that needed same day delivery of items that were to large for the "foot/bicycle messengers" of the time. In establishing the company Stephen determined that Economies of time, and price were as important to companies then as they are today. In addition, the messengers of the day were then perceived as foot and bicycle delivery versus a more dedicated, reliable and professional services of a private courier and the name ECONO-COURIER was born. The concept at that time was to be able to hand deliver items of virtually any size to the end recipient in by a fast and economical means. In essence the name means; "Save time and money with professional and reliable delivery".

During the past 30 years these same principles, very fast-very reliable-very economical, have always guided us.

It has been during this time period that Econo-Courier has become a recognizable force in the delivery industry throughout the NY-NJ area.

Later Stephen realized that our clients also needed to be able to move larger quantities of their materials with the same speed and reliability that they had become dependent on for their smaller shipments. It was with this in mind that he started the trucking division of Econo-Courier.

Shortly after the trucking division Stephen developed other highly successful services including the now popular MAN-IN-A-VAN sm (MIVsm ) concept. This is simply put a lease of a vehicle(s) and driver(s) who is thoroughly familiar with your operations and works as though they are your employee with out the headaches associated with the administrative functions that include everything from hiring, training, vehicle purchases and maintenance, coverage for sick/vacation days and the like.

As an integral part in forming the first national association of messengers & couriers (MCAA) Stephen was also able to make the necessary contacts to provide nationwide same day service at the very inception of this concept.

PRESENT DAY

Currently the president of Econo-Courier is Stephen's son Peter. His current position was gained after many years of wearing "all the hats that Econo had". In other words, if it is done here at Econo, Peter has done it. Working his way from the ground up has allowed him a true perspective on the entire operation, from warehouse, bookkeeping, driver, dispatcher, operations, finance, to the top as president. When needed he has and does often fill the gap to continue the seamless services to the family of clients that use Econo.

Peter has continued the innovative approach to same day courier with the newest service to be offered at Econo-Courier is rush service with Tractor Trailer deliveries. This service is designed to allow customers who have grown accustomed to the speed and reliability of our small package and LTL services the flexibility of having entire truckload deliveries made the same day or first thing the next morning when time is of the essence.

The company that exists today is one that was built on the trials and innovations of yesterday, it is with this in mind that we continue to explore new services, technologies, and business practices in an effort to assist you in providing seamless services to and from your clients.
